FINDING FAVOR WITH GOD!

By Bernadette Gartner

If you or your ministry is going to accomplish great things for the kingdom of God and for God’s glory, you need the favor of God upon your life. So it is important to understand how to find favor with God.  Let’s look at some examples from the bible. Gen 6: 7 & 8: 1.  Noah found favor with God by being righteous before Him.  No matter how unrighteous the world was, Noah walked in righteousness.  Righteousness is not perfection but Christ in us imputing His righteousness into us.

2 Peter 2:5.

Noah not only walked before God in righteousness but he preached righteousness to the people.  Noah found favor with God by preaching righteousness and I believe he proclaimed God’s love as well. It is not enough for us to love God and to walk in the righteousness of Christ, we must also proclaim the love of Christ to a lost and dying world.  God loves lost sinners and His favor is upon those who proclaim His love to them.  God loves to have His angels write a sinners name in the book of life after you have preached the gospel to them.

Mark 16: 15  (The Great Commission)

God’s favor is upon America today because we have done more to fulfill the Great Commission than any nation upon the face of the earth.  America is also one of the wealthiest, most blessed nations on the face of the earth because of God’s favor.  Do you think we Americans are smarter than the Chinese or more disciplined and hard working than the Germans?   No!  It is God’s favor that makes us a world power and not our own power.  Every time you take the gospel to a foreign land (even Mexico) you are bringing God’s favor upon this land.  God’s favor is upon those who go, who work, who sacrifice to fulfill the Great Commission.

Mark 10: 29-30  The favor of God is upon those who go whatever the cost to fulfill the great commission. Prov 3: 3-4. Mercy and truth.  This gospel that you proclaim is the truth of life and death and where people will spend eternity.  Nothing is more important to God.  When you proclaim the gospel you are proclaiming the truth and it brings favor in the sight of God.   Mercy is translated in Hebrew as “loving kindness”.  We are saved today because of God’s mercy.  The most merciful act God ever did for us is proclaimed in John 3: 16.  God had mercy on us while we were still sinners.  If we want to find favor with God, we need to be merciful (kind and loving) to others even when they have sinned against us. How many times have people lied about you, mistreated you, stabbed you in the back, or tried to destroy your reputation?  Do not be angry with them.  Do not pray for God to bless them with a brick falling on their heads from a great height.  :)

Forgive them as God forgave you when you had sinned against Him.  Love them as God loved you when you were not worthy of His love.  Pray for God to bless them and pour out His mercy upon them and you will find God pouring out His mercy upon you.  That is the favor of God.  That is how to have the favor of God upon your life. The truth is that God allows these things in your life so that you may find favor with Him by being like Him. Another way to find favor with God is by favoring His people, His land and His chosen city, Jerusalem. Psalm 122: 6  God prospers, blesses and looks with favor upon those who pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Gen 12: 3.  When God makes a proclamation like this it stands through the ages, until the new Jerusalem comes.   He is not just speaking of Abram but of the people of Israel.  God will bless (and favor) those who bless Israel and all the families of the earth will be blessed by the Messiah, who came through the nation of Israel. Do you want God to prosper you?  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all of Israel. Do you want God to favor and bless you?  Find a way to bless Israel.

FastING

FASTING by Rev. Ron Gartner

If you feel like your relationship with the Lord has grown somewhat cold and you do not feel the presence of God and the joy of the Lord like when you were a young Christian, here is a way to renew your first love.  FASTING!!  WHAT IS FASTING?  The practice of going without food for spiritual purposes. WHY SHOULD I FAST?  MATT 6: 16  Jesus said "when you fast"  MATT 6: 17  Again Jesus said "when you fast"  Jesus does not command us to fast, but it is clear from these scriptures that Jesus expects His disciples to fast. MATT 17: 14 - 21  Fasting builds your faith and spiritual power. Jesus fasted before He began His ministry:  MATT 4: 1-2.  From this scripture we learn that Jesus drank water when He fasted.  It says "afterward, He was hungry" it does not say He was thirsty.   Jesus also fasted during His ministry:  JOHN 4: 31 - 34.  If we want to be like Jesus, fasting should be part of our regular spiritual discipline and especially when we are preparing for ministry.   THE BLESSINGS OF FASTING.  HEB 11: 6  He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  Fasting and praying and study of the Word while fasting are diligently seeking Him and bring great rewards. What are these rewards??   Greater anointing upon your preaching, teaching, sharing and witnessing.  Isa 58: 11b.  You will never fail to have living waters flow  when you have prepared with fasting.  Greater power as you lay hands upon people and pray.  Isa 58: 6  You will  have greater anointing to break yokes, oppression and the bondage of wickedness. Answered prayer.  Isa 58: 9a.  Victory over sin.  Isa 58: 8b Your healing.  Not just anointing to heal others, but YOUR healing. Isa 58: 8a. Guidance from God.  Isa 58: 11a.   He will be the joy of your soul.  As your fast He will satisfy your soul!  You will love Jesus more than the things of the world.  More than your sin.  Your hunger for Him will increase and He will satisfy that hunger. Don't just go through the motions of fasting.  Seek Him with all of your heart.  WHEN YOU FAST, EXERCISE YOUR FAITH TO CLAIM THE BLESSINGS OF FASTING. Begin each day of your fast by opening your Bible to Isaiah 58 and read verses 8- 11 then claim these promises as you fast.  Then read verse 6 and ask God to anoint you to do all of those things. Don't just fast, go after the benefits and the blessings of fasting.  You will never regret it.  No Christian comes to the end of their life saying, "I wish I had spent more time playing video games, watching movies and hanging out with my friends."  Almost all Christians will face the end of their lives saying. " I wish I had fasted more.  I wish I had prayed more.  I wish I had studied the Word more.  I wish I had spent more time with my best friend, Jesus."  Well you can.  Just do it. Determine in your heart to diligently seek God with fasting and prayer now.
